Introduction

SPEAKER_01

Anyway, I'm just saying moving on my wife's mind.

SPEAKER_00

Welcome to the Oliver World Experience featuring Oscar Thompson, the show that discusses money, power, sex, and culture. Despite the hosts having none of the above, sit down, shut up, and enjoy the delusions and propaganda about to grace your ears.

SPEAKER_01

Hello everyone, and welcome to the Oliver World Experience, featuring a very, very, very sad Oscar Thompson. Because if we just put the fucking tissue back in the thing, he has a tissue box and he's put the tissue. He's used back in the thing. I'm just so distraught. Because we've lost a good friend of the show. We've lost a pillar of Australian society. Absolutely. A major cost of living saver for a lot of people out there who are struggling. And my go-to. Because it might go to my go-to. McSmart Meal is being gutted and changed. I have the stats here, so feel free to tuck in while I read out the stats. Yeah, I'll have a beat. Okay, so basically the original. Yes, yes, exactly. That's how everyone does it. There we go. So the original $695 McSmart Meal, it gave customers a cheeseburger, small fries, small drink, and a choice of a side, which included a chicken and cheese, small Sunday, three-piece McNuggets, and another cheeseburger. Now, um from is it 1 July? It has 1 July. So from 1 July 2026, McDonald's is now splitting that McSmart Meal into three tiers. So there's the McSmart Saver, which is $6.95, the McSmart Meal, which is $7.95, and the McSmart Plus, which is $9.95. So let's dive into it. The $695 McSmart Saver, it keeps the old price, but it is app only and it's fixed to a hamburger, small fries, small drink, and three-piece McNuggets. So that means the cheapest option now has a weaker burger and has no choice and has no choice making the $6.95 deal less flexible than before. So moving on then to the next tier, the standard McSmart Meal, it rises from $6.95 to $7.95. That's a $1 increase and a 14.4% price rise. The $7.95 version offers a cheeseburger or chicken and cheese, but the side change to a three-piece McNugget, hash brown, uh, apple pie or cookies, which removes the previous options like a small Sunday chicken and cheese or another cheeseburger from the standard McSmart side selection. Then last of all, the last tier, the new McSmart Plus costs $9.95, which includes a McDouble, small fries, small drink, and a side of choice. So at $9.95, the McSmart Plus is $3 more than the original $6.95 meal, which is a $43.2%. Why are you looking at me like that? You're just shocked? I'm just shocked. Okay. You know, it's an extra patty. Okay, yeah, yeah, yeah. I know it's an extra patty, but you're paying $3. Yeah. Um, so that's a 43.2% increase for the top tier. So overall, McDonald's has kept the $6.95 price headline, but made that app only. It's reduced to the cheapest burger. It's removed a side choice from the cheapest tier, raised the standard meal price, and pushed the premium option close to $10. What do we think, large pick back meal, as the McEconomist amongst us today? The McConomista. Yeah, McConomista, there we go. Um This is like the most in-depth anyone's ever gone into these changes.

SPEAKER_02

You know, I think this is really the pinnacle of the attack on the bat lap. It really is. It really is. It's an assault on Australia's working class. It's a very multi-billion dollar company. Yep. They released this, and I'm very thankful they released this in 2024 as a combat to cost of living. Yeah. 100%. Fantastic value, you know. At least they're finally, they understand their target market. People doing it day to day, living paycheck to paycheck like myself. I done, you know. And then, what do you call that? Now they're doing this shit. Like, I'm sorry, the cost of living crisis hasn't been solved.

SPEAKER_01

100%. And what gets me as well is the fact that McDonald's then, because their PR is in such tatters because everyone's pissed off that they're removing this, in order to combat that, they're now paying people, all these food reviewers, who think they're going to change the world by sitting in their car, they're paying them to promote this new meme. Oh, I know. And they're trying to gaslight the Australian public into thinking that they're getting a better deal, if not more options, when they're actually paying more for a worse value. Do you get what I'm saying?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, well, and originally they weren't even going to do this lineup. They only bought it. This was a compromise.

SPEAKER_01

They wanted to get rid of it completely, didn't they? Yeah, the public.

SPEAKER_02

This is the public outrage. And you know, I think it's actually it's really struck me to the core the amount of people who are really like fighting for this. There's quite there's quite a fine flight.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, and I think that's a definitely a positive thing. So, yes, anyway, very, very, I always get a two smart mill to say. So you don't need two. I think one does the trick.

SPEAKER_02

Anyway, I want to eat mine, so I think we're gonna cut. It's just it it really sums up the attack on the working class. Yes. Because I think right now from the corporate establishment.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, and I think the working class is being attacked on many fronts right now, especially in this country. So, anyway, we're gonna cut so I can eat mine, and um, unfortunately, this will be one of the last ones I have at such a good value. I'm trying to do it. I'm trying to. And as many as possible. Oh, really? Okay, well, it's gonna be my last one. I guess we're gonna have another baby. Exactly. But as well, look what just for the occasion, we dressed in all black. No. He looks like Chairman Mao. He's been working around. I'm thinking with the glass a bit more Michael Jackson. Oh god, Jesus. We can't start again with this shit, can we? Alright.

World Cup

SPEAKER_01

Now that we have finished our delicious McSmart Meals, it will be my last one. Won't be mine. Yeah, I know. Oliver will probably have another 20 or 30 by the time it goes. We thought that we'd cover one of the um one of the one of the biggest things happening right now in the world, which is the FIFA World Cup. So the 2026 FIFA World Cup is already underway. It's the largest ever World Cup. There's 48 teams, there's 104 matches across the USA, Mexico, and Canada, which I think is interesting that they're doing multiple countries. I quite like that. I think it spreads the distribution of it over the code. I don't think, I mean, look, there's pros and cons. You could argue, well, more people get to actually see it and have access to watching the World Cup, like in person, um, because it's in more cities. But at the same time, I could also say, well, it's quite tough for all of the athletes and teams transporting themselves kind of between multiple countries.

SPEAKER_02

But they I don't just say in terms of the games, but my understanding is each country's in a different like US state. I believe they're all in America. I'm not sure they may. I think Iran's in Mexico because they haven't been let in, but you know, people. Anyway, and but so I my understanding is I know Algiers in Kansas, so all these Kansas people supporting Algeria. Australia's in San Francisco, I believe.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, but even then, they still have to travel back and forth. I don't know. I think it's it's always ideal when it's in one place and when the infrastructure has been built specifically for the World Cup. That's why I really like the Qatar one. So you're right, actually. FIFA estimates that the tournament will contribute to 40.9 billion um to the global GDP, which is a lot, that's global. Um, bit of bullshit on that. You reckon? I mean that's what FIFA's estimating, so argue with them, not me. Maybe it's just what ChatGPT made up as well. We'll never know on that. This is the level of journalism you get on fucking the Oliver Wild experience. Um the tournament uh has shattered broadcast records, so the USA's opening drew 27.5 million viewers. Um, and FIFA is projected to generate 11 billion themselves in revenue between the 2023 and 2026 cycle. Um so what are your thoughts generally on the World Cup? Like what do you do you watch it?

SPEAKER_02

Like what's I'm not a big sport person, clearly, but what do you call it? I the only thing I really watch is the NRL. Um, but I quite like I've always liked the World Cup a bit more. I just I because it's quite, you know, it's it's a bit of a movement, it's a bit of a social kind of cultural moment.

SPEAKER_01

And I think as well, just thinking back to the 2022 one in Qatar, it's such a big cultural moment that it kind of it marks periods in history, if that makes sense. In the sense that when I think back to that one back in 2022, I think of not just that, but also all the things that happened in that year and around that time. They're really good bookmarks of like, do you get what I'm saying? Global society. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

But then at the same time, I I don't want to speak on your behalf, but I know for me, like for what do you call it, the only two I remember, and that's also Clum Oliver. But what do you call it is the Russia one. See, I don't remember the Russian one. Really? Yeah. I remember I do remember the Russian one. Isn't it in Brazil as well before that? I think I might remember hearing about the Brazil one. But I don't remember, I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

But the Russian one's dodgy. I saw something on TikTok, you know, once again, the level of journalism you get here, ladies and gentlemen, where they had to build seats like outside of the stadium, and they like knocked down a wall in the stadium, and the these seats were like on stilts. Some people watching might know what I'm talking about. It was it was really weird and it's not.

SPEAKER_02

I still remember at the time it was still a big thing at the time, because even then, like 2018, there was a rush Russian election, so you know. Like what so it was all a bit like yeah, and then obviously then Qatar had a lot of that.

SPEAKER_01

And uh I think Qatars is really good. I think that was probably one of my favourites. I mean, obviously, I'd have been a little bit. Yeah, because they have a fuck ton of money in that country spent on them.

SPEAKER_02

Um I also liked how Qatar, especially from an Australian audience, it was at November, December. Yes, exactly. It was at a better time. I think most World Cups should be like that.

SPEAKER_01

Because right now, I actually think like this would be do better in Australia if it was. Yeah, because I also think people have more time at the end of the year. Do you get what I'm saying? To really tune in and watch that stuff. And it's the the it's the I don't I don't know. Exactly. Well, yes, I do like the World Cup as well, and just generally I think it's something very easy to get into because it's not like a a league or a tournament where you have to watch seven months of games to actually understand what's going on and understand the standings of where each team sits. It's very nice, can condensed down to a month or two. Yeah. You can follow your team along, etc. And many people have been following their teams along. I'm now gonna attempt, and the key word is attempt here, to read out every single result that we've had so far. Um I apologize in advance if I butcher any names of obscure European or African countries. Um it was not my intention to do so. So on June 12, 2026, Mexico won 2-0 against South Africa, and the Korean Republic won 2-1 against Czechia. And I've never heard of Czechia actually prior to this.

SPEAKER_02

It's interesting because my cousins are Czech, but they're half Czech, half Egyptian. Yeah. Um, what do you call it? And um But what you surely do know, I don't think I know Czech people. No, no, I don't know any Czech.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I don't know any other Czech people. What in modern history was actually about Czechia? This new Czechier country I don't know.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Czechoslovakia, Germany started invading it, like Hitler started invading it, right? And at the time the countries were like kept on kind of just turning a bit of a blind eye, they didn't want to get involved. Okay, yes, yes. Yes.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I kind of remember that. And then ringing a bell now.

SPEAKER_02

They made a deal of don't take all of it, and then they took all of it, and then people were like, oh shit, like they actually don't care.

SPEAKER_01

Okay. Okay, it's ringing a bell now. It's just the fact that it's called Czechia and not like the Czech Republic or something. It was the Czech Republic. They've Okay.

SPEAKER_02

So this is an identity crisis, Goma. Well they changed their name, I believe, 2020. Okay. Um, because what other country do you say republic really for?

SPEAKER_01

Uh there's the Democratic Republic of Congo. But yeah, that's that's some, you know, Dodge. I know, I know. But is Czechia like a legit, like, really nice like country? Not saying that other countries aren't nice, but like is it like I'm not too sure. I we consider it like a Western nation. I'd say it's a Western nation. What's the GDP like it?

SPEAKER_02

It's just an Eastern European country. It's probably it's probably one of the more, I'd assume more nicer. I'd probably say it's actually like closer to a bit more Germany type of thing. Not but yeah, I don't think it's like a Bulgaria.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, well I definitely I definitely need to educate myself on Czechia. Apologize apologies in advance for anyone who's from Chechia um listening to this. Uh on June 13, 2026, Canada drew one all against Bosnia and Herzegovina. I think I said that right. And the USA won 4-1 against Paraguay. On June 14, 2026, Qatar and Switzerland drew one all, Brazil and Morocco drew one all, Scotland won 1-0 against Haiti, and Australia won 2-0 against Turkey, which we'll speak about momentarily. Turkey. Turkey, that's right. Why did they change that? Was that just a aesthetic thing? Like they didn't want to be associated with the word Turkey. Like that's a genuine.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, I I think it was more to do with um that's how they said they say in Turkish. Turkey. So it's like fair enough.

SPEAKER_01

But I also did hear that I didn't want to call it the Turkey. Yeah, that's what I heard. I heard that from somewhere, but that's probably a bit more of a clickbaity kind of explanation of it. Uh then on June 15, 2026, Germany smashed uh Kuracau, is that how I pronounce it? Carousel. I don't know. Maybe I can give the alcohol. I thought you were about to talk about Api Coruscau because I'm an alcoholic. You would have put my house firebombed. What? No, because you were you said corosau instead of oof carosau. Api Corosau.

SPEAKER_02

No, no, no, I had no clue who is Api Corusau. The fucking NRL player.

SPEAKER_01

What the fuck are you talking about? Oh god, no, okay, we're moving on now. Um continuing. Uh we then had the Netherlands draw with Japan. Tool. He's literally click now. You've had the biggest brain buttons. Then we had, oh god. Thank God this country has a anglicized way of saying its name. It's called the Ivory Coast. I'm not going to attempt to say the French name of it. Apologies in advance to anyone from the Ivory Coast. But it was, it was Ivory Coast. Before that, and then they're I remember it being Ivory Coast. I thought it was two different countries. I think generally what we need to do is we need to simplify this stuff. We need to stop renaming countries. We just need it, we need to take a breath. Let everyone understand what's going on first. Um okay, so they won 1-0 against Ecuador, so good on them. Then we had Sweden win 5-1 against Tunisia. Spain and Cabo Verde drew they drew with nil all.

SPEAKER_02

So I was gonna say that 5-1 Sweden against Tunisia, that's the that's the price. Yes, well, it's notable. What are the Tunisians? I remember I remember briefly in uh 22 there was an Australian Tunisia match. Okay, yeah, that might ring a bell actually. Australia was like the underdog or something. They ended up winning. Australia did end up winning, I believe. I believe it was one my one one.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I think that rings a bell now. Um so yeah, Spain drew Nil all against Cabo Verde, which I believe that was quite controversial because Spain's supposed to be pretty good, hey. Yeah, um and that was really a big then Belgium drew one all against Egypt, Saudi Arabia drew one all against Uruguay, um, Iran drew two all against New Zealand, um, and then on June 17, 2026, we had France winning 3-1 over Senegal, uh, Norway winning 4-1 against Iraq, Argentina winning 3-0 against Algeria, and Austria winning 3-1 against Jordan. On June 18, 2026, we then had Portugal draw one-all with Congo. Um we had England win a 4-2 against Croatia, Ghana win one-nil against Panama, and Colombia win 3-1 against Uzbekistan. Now, I'm sure as you guys are watching, there'll probably be some more results from some more updated games. We're filming this on the 19th, and you guys will be seeing it in a few days. Um but I think it's important for us as well, obviously, as Australians, to discuss the Socceros. So they won their 2-0 victory against Turkey, obviously. I've already corrected my own.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I'll I'll I had a bit of a allegiance problem in that game.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, same. I mean, I really like the Turks, but above all else, I mean, I am literally Australian, so I did support Australia. I put money on Australia and I want some good money there. Because the odds were like the odds are like six bucks. So every dollar you put on, you got six bucks back. I know, it's really good. Um anyway, then we had goals from Nastori, Iraqunda, um, and Connor Metcalf. Um, and a lot of people have actually discussed kind of more the political consequences of this game in the sense that it's an extremely multicultural team. So I have here that the 26-man squad features people from um Burundian, uh Guinea, uh Liberia, Zimbabwe, uh people who are Ugandan, and also South Sudanese heritage. So it's quite a multicultural group of I don't remember it being that multicultural. No, I don't remember it either. So this is clearly I I think as well there's like 10 people in that team who are debuting for the soccer, yeah, I'm pretty sure. It's one of the highest rates of people debuting. And that's why I think people counted out of it. Yes, that's why the odds are so bad against them. And look, I think they gen generally played quite good, but I mean look, I'm not here to judge how fucking people are playing. Look at me, I fucking sit here at McDonald's and have a podcast, so like what can I say? Um but look, I think yeah, there's definitely a lot of discussion about the multiculturalness there and links to Pauline Hansen and stuff. And I think like just generally, I don't think that you can support Pauline Hansen and also support the Socceros right now. Because there's a contradiction in the sense that if Pauline Hansen was Prime Minister, right, she would abolish the SBS, so we wouldn't be able to watch it in the first place, right? She would make the ABC a subscription service, so even if she did it on the other public broadcasts, it would have to pay. And her immigration policy would have prevented most of these players from even entering the country in the first place. So I just think that we need to realise that the problem here is not immigrants, and I don't think that we should necessarily be beating each other down. We should be lifting each other up because this is a great achievement when we actually celebrate multiculturalism of what happens.

SPEAKER_02

Well, and I think as well, obviously she had her stuff at the press club yesterday calling for monoculture, and I think the whole thing around this has been completely twisted between multi-ethnic and multicultural, right? Okay, just like. Well she said we were multiracial, multi-cultural. We should be multi monocultural. Right? Now, I think it's been twisted that multicultural means that you have um different values that aren't complicit with an Australian values. But I think as well, if everyone was monocultural, culture's also about stuff like food. Exactly. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

So we wouldn't have to be convinced supporters want to give up their favourite Chinese restaurant in their local club. That's what I mean.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I think we would just I think if she um was in and she wants to practice what she preaches, we should all be eating meat pies and bloody tomato sauce. And even that's an English culture.

SPEAKER_01

That's not that's that's not even well culture's such a subjective thing, especially when you're dealing with such a young country like Australia. Yeah. Because when you're a young country, your culture's influenced by so many other countries. And I think to just say, okay, this is now Australian culture, I just think that that's just a bit ignorant because I think it's just a very broad thing. But above all else, I think that Australian culture is just being decent and just looking after people, and instead of attacking people, just being, you know, a nice human. Do you get what I'm saying? I'd argue that that's Australian culture. And I think that she continues to violate that every day, especially at the press club. Yeah, that's completely correct. Yeah. Did you see that banner? They put in banner on the club. Yeah, they did do the banner as well in the press club. That was um get up claim responsibility for that, and David Shiraz. I quite like David Shiraz now. I was never too sure about him. Um, but I don't know, there's just something about I love a good shit stirrer, that's what I love. But what annoys me though about that that um banner thing, a lot of people are saying that it was counterproductive. A lot of people on the left are actually coming out against the banner saying it feeds into what Pauline wants. And I disagree with that. I think it's had a great cut through, and I think that the message is sinking in because there's been a lot of attention with it. And now getup's selling merch, their videos are doing well on Instagram and stuff like that.

SPEAKER_02

I think with Hansen for a long time. I think the critique, especially from the left, has always been uh one on her racial policies. But I think uh getup was smart in not going after that and going after an econom an economic one because I think that's the one that will be able to get through to the people who might be thinking, you know, I'm a bit I'm just fed up, I just want to use it because I think and yeah, that opens up a bigger thing.

SPEAKER_01

I think as well how we approach one nation is also important in the sense that of course it's very easy to try and shame the people who are curious for voting for them, right? But if we try and attack people constantly and shame them, right, for making that decision, all that all that's gonna do is radicalise them all. It's just gonna lock in their vote there. Whereas if we actually try to nicely and coherently explain to them why, and I do think that their economic policies are probably the most universally agreed upon thing that people would not like about Pauline Hansen, if we present that stuff to them, and if we don't talk down to them, but we talk to them as, you know, people who are all entitled to one vote, I think that that's probably more effective than just screaming and shouting. What do you think?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, and I completely agree agree with that, but even just stuff like you know, calling workers lazy when she has a 53% attendance regular. Anyway.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, oh I'm not I'm not standing up for anything she said. I'm just saying when we're approaching how to flip her supporters, we should probably be speaking about economics just as much, if not more than we're speaking about cultural stuff.

SPEAKER_02

Even a cultural thing in the terms of the soccer roos, right? I think there'd be a lot of people out there who would have seen stuff around socceros, and of course, a lot of one nation people would be pro soccer and whatever, you know what I mean. Um and uh they would have seen that, and I think even in their minds, you know, I I think they would have seen that, and you've got to remember a lot of One Nation supporters also come from places, and this isn't any disrespect to them, which aren't very multicultural. Yeah. Which are quite, you know, like well, rural towns, regional towns, yeah, I agree with that.

SPEAKER_01

And they would have seen that and thought, oh well, this is Yeah, exactly. Or maybe it would have it would have changed their mind, because I'm assuming in their minds they would probably say, Well, they would argue that multiculturalism does more bad than good, but I think that that might challenge that assumption for them because they've seen what multicultural success.

SPEAKER_02

It would have provided a contradiction in the world. Exactly.

SPEAKER_01

So hopefully that. gets people thinking. But I think it is messages like that that are more effective and the economic messages that are more effective than just screaming and shouting and calling her a racist. Because look, she is a racist in my opinion. I think she's can she's a convicted racist in the high call. Yes, exactly. Yeah, you're exactly right. And by fact as well if you look at the definition of racism, I think she is a racist. But I just don't think it's productive necessarily for us to go and start going, you're a racist, how can you vote for her? Because I just think that pushes the people back into a court. Anyway, I think that was an interesting discussion because look the World Cup is very political and it is extremely stuff around what do you call it?

SPEAKER_02

Iran hasn't been let in. Someone from Iran wasn't let in one of the players into America so now they're all having to be in Mexico. Yeah. And I've also seen I believe this might this is from TikTok so you know taking every grain of salt that Trump FIFA is a let will allow Trump to go when they lift a trophy whoever wins he'll be there.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_02

So it would be really funny if Iround won and he had to be there while around or Mexico. Why don't we have Mexico Iran Mexico Iran are final and how good he'd be like that would be quite funny actually.

SPEAKER_01

I I don't think he'd do it like if I can refuse if Iran was if it was Mexico he led it probably yeah I think because I quite like the Mexican um leader. What's the woman's name?

SPEAKER_02

Shanm Claudia Claudia something like that.

SPEAKER_01

I quite like her. Anyway,

NBA Finals

SPEAKER_01

moving on but keeping it in the realm of sports I know we've never spoken about sports so much until now hey this has not been a sports podcast. It still isn't we're we're still talking mostly politics about the sports but um well look we attempted to read out all the games and the scores and gave people a justice it was extremely um educating in the Foreign Affairs Department here at the Oliver Wild experience. Moving on to the NBA finals um so the NBA finals this year saw the New York Knicks defeat the San Antonio Spurs four games to one capturing the first their first championship since 1973. The official results were game one was Knicks 105 Spurs 95 game two Knicks 105 Spurs 104 game three Spurs 115 Knicks 111 game four Knicks 107 Spurs 106 Game 5 Knicks 94 Spurs 90 see I find it interesting that they spread it across the game that there's multiple games it fucking blew my mind you should have you should have seen my face when my mum told me that there's not just one game you do uh it's out of eight isn't it? Yeah but did but now since they won was that did the Fever free it's whoever gets it's whoever gets um over four right? Yes. So I I think there might be seven games or something whoever gets over four. So next one every game except the third the third one. Yes. But it blows my mind did those other games happen. Didn't the game six and seven happen? I don't think so no it's over next. But what if you bought tickets? That's what I was thinking because some people might want to travel and and might go. But then it's a bit risky because do tickets go on sale um like before the final start so you don't know how many games there are or do fine do the tickets when they go on sale after the report of the price difference I'm playing on like Monday nights and stuff it's really weird anyway with every two days remember? Yeah it was crazy it was crazy anyway so it was a culture shock to be honest learning a lot about the NBA not the NBA yeah no the NBA so that's called something else. But I think as well there's some interest here as well for me personally. I think one of the reasons I found it quite interesting I watched game three and game five actually the first game I watched was the one Trump was at um which is the one where the Knicks lost I think it's interesting how Zora Mamdani has managed to tie himself so closely to such a popular sports team in New York because obviously it's the New York Knicks right everyone in New York is most people are going to be supporting the Knicks right they're not going to be supporting the Lakers because that's in California right we're talking about New York and he's managed to successfully tie himself to them which I think now he's going to reap the political benefit because he's just had that parade today and he's seen with all the players he's seen with all the fans and I think it's just I think it's just politically genius.

SPEAKER_02

And I think as well I think the people who would have voted for I remember I looked at a few exit polls in um New York the Merrill race and Maundani actually lost voters who have were born in New York. Okay yeah so he he and by by quite a bit as well like it wasn't a landslide but it was quite a they voted for the other one Andrew Cuomo which made me think like if if you were to support another NBA team hypothetically like if you're just using common sense you'd probably be more likely to support Mum Danny if you were supporting another most people Knicks would be an establishment type of thing and he's anti-establishment I g I get what you're saying yeah 100%.

SPEAKER_01

I mean look yeah it's interesting and I know as well so obviously he's tied himself closely to that people like me think that that's genius. I mean I think it is like look at look at the footage that's coming out of New York and how he's reaping the benefits of that. But then some people are also criticising him I saw today Curtis Sleewer who ran against him as the Republican who I quite like I think most people think that he's quite you know a nice guy seems quite funny he has basically criticized Zoran and other people who are democratic socialists for um all of a sudden supporting the Knicks so much because it's actually owned by a billionaire and it's basically a very corporate sport as well. Which I also think is a very fair criticism.

SPEAKER_02

Well and I I thought he was going to come out because for those who don't know because he's a very anti-crime advocate like he's on the subways he does a thing called Guardians angel he came out here he went to Parramatta whatever um and um there was a lot of like riots and stuff happening in New York and you were thinking he was going to approach it from like a law and order type of thing yeah because I haven't really seen Mum Darny tell people I think Mum Darney said to people go and have fun or whatever I saw some report it was some fake report where he's like he made all crimes legal for like 24 hours.

SPEAKER_01

No but like I mean he got a question he says legit like are you going to tell people go home it's like no no people The fun's so infectious though I think that's as well why people are so it's pretty crazy having things yeah did you see did you see the guy who supported the Spurs like uh to the the the guy who fought them and he was like it was the one guy and he was actually fucking he was doing really well it was like it was like a 1v100 and they were moving away from that guy like flies it was fucking a bit more of that in Australia though because it happens in England with the with the hocker but it's funny because now people like Chris Mins and stuff are posting like all these sayings like you know the Knicks in fire chant he's trying to fuck lose I don't think he ruined that I I don't I don't care if they're labor lip or whatever I just keep it to what it is exactly and I don't want to I'd say the closest thing we've gotten recently um was probably when the tigers were first on the ladder at the start of the year but then they're falling off because of all the injuries.

SPEAKER_02

Well I was even gonna think you you know how they did Jacinta in Victoria with the Federation Square. Yeah because she let everyone uh use the Federation Square for the Socceros because for those who don't know the people who own because Federation Square is obviously operated by a private company they decided they decided to um not let people uh gather there for the socceros and she basically said no I'm not gonna let a few dickheads ruin everyone's fun.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah um but it's a shame because I don't see all of these people um saying oh thank you Jacinta like they're saying thank you Zoran but I think what what the common underlying here is is how interesting it is of how sports actually do every now and then play into politics.

SPEAKER_02

I think that's generally the idea Yeah and I think that says a lot to people who always like oh I don't want politics in sports blah blah blah I think it's inherently political.

SPEAKER_01

But I think sport then goes into politics yeah exactly I think I think it's a both way thing relationship I think especially when you're dealing with so much money when you're doing when you're dealing with different areas with everything politics is just in everything. I mean yeah I agree with you but like I mean this is just a bit of a this is a bit of an ick conversation I know but it just is it just is like it is even the water I mean yeah because think of the US um what's his face RFK got rid of the fluoride and stuff like that. And the AI had the AI center in the water and you point out yeah I did the I watched that AOC thing on YouTube did you see that? Yeah yeah yeah where she she actually went into the not not the the committee she brought the jars out of dirty water in the committee but then she also went into towns and spoke to the people who live near the data centers. But yeah you could point at anything in this room or anything in the room you're sitting in right now and there's a political story behind it and there's a reason why that is there and is the way it is and it is inherently political. But do you think that should be the case? Yeah. Well I mean look we need we need or is it just an objective like it's just not going to change though. It's just an objective fact no matter what type of whatever no matter what type of world you live in unless you live in a world or a society where it's just there's no laws or anything there's no authority like a full-on like liberalism type of fucking state of nature type of thing but until then no I

UFC Freedom 250

SPEAKER_01

think yeah anyway moving on but keeping it once again in sports and in politics Donald Trump posted the UFC Freedom 250 on the White House South Lawn as part of America's 250th anniversary celebrations and his 80th birthday. It was the first major professional sporting event ever held in the White House which I also question that which ChatGPT has given me because I've heard that Teddy Roosevelt did have a boxing match in the White House. He actually had a very interesting White House he had a lot of animals in the White House and he had a lot of animals Teddy Teddy was in before Franklin yeah that's right and Franklin's a good one and Teddy wasn't very popular. Well he he was in Night at the museum that was his best work yeah Teddy Roosevelt the guy that died I think he may have committed suicide not Teddy not Teddy but the actor that played Teddy Roosevelt in Night at the museum watching me alive right now alive and well no I'm pretty sure he died okay but anyway he he's still one of the more well known ones he's not on Mount Rushmore is it? No he's not no no Mount Rushmore Who's on Mount Rushmore? I think that for Jefferson Adams no I don't think he's on it Quincy Johnson No I don't think he's on it you don't think so no I don't think so it Jefferson and then someone else who is it I don't know Washington Jefferson Lincoln and there's anyway Lincoln not on there Lincoln is Lincoln not on the phone rushmore you were telling me Lincoln why because he was done with 1800 ridiculous we need to do a new Mount Rushmore about that. No no no no beyond the new Mount Rushmore wouldn't do it beyond it because he did you know what though you know what I'm not I don't want like we're we'll obviously get into this in a sec. We still need to cover some of the stuff he wouldn't do any of that I probably would almost somewhat be supportive of having him on the Mount Rushmore because it's it's not about I'm not saying add him to the current one if we did another one and we had to choose four. I think it's about impact right like whether we like Trump or not I don't like him right and we'll get into that um I think he's had probably one of the most impacts out of many presidents especially in modern times. Worldwide yes I think he had the probably the largest worldwide social impact yeah so let's say we're doing Mount Rushmore again I don't think that's what Mount Rushmore's just the founding fathers. Of course but let's choose four more people who are really who serves as president um to to be on a new Mount Rushmore who weren't on the old one. If Lincoln's not on the old one we've got to go with Lincoln right and he's I think we we've got to do FDR longest serving did the most probably objectively the best president then never want they'd want Kennedy they'd want Kennedy I probably wouldn't put Kennedy there. We could have the debate about Kennedy for a long time I look I don't hate the guy I think he's overhyped though I think that um I'm not a fan of LBJ either but if you look at LBJ I mean he basically did more than Kennedy in my opinion especially in advancing civil rights and all of that Kennedy was basically he's he he spoke a lot but I just don't think that he had the record comparable to LBJ now obviously he's not cut short unlucky unlucky boss to deduct but like you know and as well the Kennedy Kennedy we've really gone astray but the Kennedy family's an interesting one because you have um what's his name Jack Schlossberg running in New York and I know he had a bit of a moment a few months ago where someone asked him something about Israel at a protest and he would not say free Palestine or something or it was it was just something extremely basic that anyone should be able to say and he just couldn't say it. But now since they had a debate for that district and I think that the primaries for all of that are coming up next week I actually think it's New York. Maybe yeah I think it's I know Brad Lander and stuff like that. You know Brad Lander? Yeah he's up next week and there's a few other people who are maybe as endorsed um any anyway he's having an interesting run but I think the appeal for him is basically just because he's a Kennedy and I think look I I understand to an extent why people have infatuations with these families but I think we need to stop just letting people do things because they're part of a family and due to nepotism I feel like they should actually just work for it. I don't think he'd have the attraction that he does to many voters if he wasn't related to the Kennedy I mean look it interesting family a lot of tragedy as well because his sister died recently didn't she touch another Renate yeah and then his mum was the um ambassador to Australia. No it didn't last long at all and we have a new guy some Republican comment yeah David Battle something David Battle Bratt it was something Brat I I remember that because Charlie XCX or it was something like that. Anyway so back to the back to the UC hang on I didn't finish my thing actually my Mount Rushmore you did no I said people would say Kennedy I would just put Kennedy on it and then I'd also do Trump. Yeah but I mean you could also argue Obama first African American president Trump wouldn't put that on yeah realistically I think that's what it's I'm doing what I would do though yeah anyway I I wouldn't do any other I'd get a bulldozer like Pauline and bulldozer alright um it was the first okay so no we've already discussed that first major sporting event questionable um that's just down a rabbit hole uh so the event drew around 4.3 thousand attendees inside the venue um including roughly around 1.2k active duty military personnel a further 85000 free tickets were issued for fans who could watch it on giant screens around the outside of the White House grounds to which for some reason I've seen like 50 people get into fights. Have you seen all the fights before just a bunch of just a bunch of like rednecks just fucking trying to take each other it's really strange. I love that term redneck actually redneck? I do love that everyone has their type of bogan in their country do you get what I'm saying? Like we have bogans they have rednecks UK has chavs um anyway um the UFC spent only chavs a woman a chav's a bit of an eschet oh but it's an eschette yeah no they're road men aren't they roadmen yeah true there's many names actually maybe the UK I think a geezer maybe the Break the geezer from Yorkshire you could pass a bit of a break the geezer yourself yeah so the UFC spent around 60 million um staging the event make it one of the most expensive productions in company history the event featured military flyovers the marine band and large scale patriotic displays celebrating America's 250th anniversary I my thoughts on this is just look you can you can have events like this at the White House I'm all for that do something interesting innovate stuff like that however it is the people's house above all and I think if you're gonna do something like that the people should reap the benefits and get a good return out of that. So maybe the profit should have gone to a charity maybe the profit should have gone to upkeep of the White House or maybe the profit should have gone somehow directly back to the people I think that the people should be front and centre not um all of these gambling sponsors and not the UFC and I don't think that that's a radical thing to say I don't think that that's a right wing or a left wing view. I just think that's common sense above all else it's the people's house. Do whatever you want in it but the people should get the rewards from that what do you think?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah well I think it is uh I largely agree with you I don't mind that much but I think it does I think Trump for a long time uh has seen the White House as his house. Yes but it's not like I remember in the different mentality compared to other presidents in 2020 for example he that was his victory venue.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah in 2020 what when that victory he didn't win but you know he pretended he did and I think um you know like I as I I just don't have much of an issue with it but yeah yeah that's pretty much I I I you've really summed it up I don't really think we've covered it as much as as much as we need

2028 Democratic Presidential Primary

SPEAKER_01

to um I think still keep it in the theme of the US um and still keeping it very much centered around Trump um we are slowly and slowly approaching very very slowly the 2028 uh US presidential election and I think the Republican primary is obviously a lot more between Marco Rubio and JD Vance and that's pretty self-explanatory the more time goes on the more Rubio looks to be the front runner right so I think that's more of a less interesting discussion. What is an interesting discussion is the actual Democratic primary who is going to be the Democrats candidate for president of the United States so what we have done is we have chosen I've chosen ten he chose five do you want to explain why he chose five I chose five I thought to myself no one in the bottom five if I was pink would get it like I this the So you just don't think it's a wide field? Like you don't think it's a or do you just think it's a really centralized field where only these people see I don't think it is necessarily and I I I think um I think people keep on looking at it as the per person but I think it it's also about the direction the party needs to move in. Okay. Well so what we've done is we've organized it into power rankings. So basically this is not who we want to be president or the sorry not president the democratic nominee this is who we think will be it and who's in the best position right now to actually win that nomination right so I'll start with my list um and I'll kind of we'll briefly elaborate on each person but we won't go too far into it. So I'm gonna start with um number one which is Gavin Newsom. I think that he is just generally the most likely right now and I think that you know we just gotta be real like I'm not the biggest fan of the guy. He's way too centrist to me. I just don't know if he's what we're looking for. I would definitely obviously quote unquote vote for him in the general I live in fucking Australia. I'm not voting for the man because I can't right um but I wouldn't support him in the primary at all but I mean whether we like it or not he has a lot of attention um and I just think that he's the most likely I think number two is my pick though which is Kamala Harris. I'm still on the Kamala train a lot of people will say okay well sure but she lost in 24 I think 24 is an even playing field because of the cards that she was dealt but I also think that 24 could be an asset for her in the sense that people might think okay everything she warned us about has since happened right we are now in so much shit that I think the American people might very much show value a chance to change their mind and have that same option. Do you get what I'm saying? Then I have AOC who I'm not sure if she'll run or not um but I think that if anyone had her outside of a top three they'd be in denial a bit because she has a very strong brand to her and a very large lane obviously taking over from Bernie Sanders. Number four I have Pete Buttigieg a lot of people are obviously skeptical about him because he is gay and people don't know how that's going to play in the electorate and that's fair enough. Everyone always says well he struggles with um the black vote and yes he very much so may but he still has a strong campaign infrastructure because he's ran in primaries before and did relatively well in them. And I still think that he appeals to you know white educated voters which is still a large chunk of the Democratic party's base because I mean if you look as well just generally with left-wing parties a lot of left-wing parties their new bases aren't necessarily unfortunately as much any more working class people living in outer suburbs and regions. They're more or less inner city dwellers who have high education rates and I think that someone like Pete Butic does really well there. The next at number five this is probably a little bit more of a wild card is John Orsoff. So he's a senator from Georgia he's up for reelection um at the end of this year for midterms. I think he'll win and I think he'll win comfortably and I think that that's gonna give him a platform and a boost to actually start campaigning for president. I think that he's gonna have a bit of that JFK appeal. He's a young guy I think a lot of people are going to see that orator um and I think they might think of you know JFK and Obama and I think he could be appealing for a lot of people but I mean look nothing set in stone there. Sixth I have Josh Shapiro um he was kind of a lot of people say he's one of the front runners. I just I don't find him that interesting to be honest I think he's two centrist um similar to to Newsom in that sense I would not vote for him in a primary but I'd definitely support the guy in a general election. Seventh I have JB Pritzka who I actually personally quite like I watched a podcast interview with him he has an interesting upbringing his parents died young uh he inherited a lot of wealth he's built a lot of wealth himself he's also on Ozempic and I sent him a video the other day his Ozempic's working really well have you have you seen how skinny he is right now he's not that skinny though he it's he's skinnier than he was I'll give back is he actually on IZempic or is he I heard I heard that he's on Ozempic I'm pretty put on him look I mean look at him he's definitely on Ozempic but he he'd be he's a billionaire right he is and I mean that would obviously present its issues some people wouldn't want to vote for a billionaire especially on the left and I think that for example in California Tom Steyer who fell short of making it into the top two he was a progressive billionaire and um I think that that probably hindered his chances because he what lost by two percent or so against Steve Hilton for the second spot. That was also a very crowded field. Of course it was I get what I'm saying I think that someone like JB Pritzg should probably be looking at that and thinking oh shit well maybe the writing's on the wall here for me. I then have Westmore at eight there's not much to say about him a lot of intrigue um smooth guy slick guy why not is a chance then I have Mark Kelly at number nine I kind of wanted Mark Kelly Kelly to be Kamala's VP when he was being discussed.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Um, I think that I mean Arizona's a state that the Dems are losing their hold on quite quickly, and I think it's a state that they should really be winning. It really all comes down to the the Latino vote, basically.

SPEAKER_02

I disagree with that a bit though, actually. I've the governor election happening in Arizona. I know, but she's gonna win comfortably. The Democrats can win. I know the presidential, but I mean that was the only there's only been one election.

SPEAKER_01

What's his face? Talk about um who I don't have on this list, by the way. And a lot of people say, well, you know, for example, just using your logic, just because a governor holds that state. So he's reliable.

SPEAKER_02

Two of the democratic senators are democratic in Arizona. Yeah. Okay, yeah, I can't. Presidential, and that was the only election that was the first election, I believe, since I think it was 2000, in which the r they voted more Republican than the last time as well. So I I think it probably, to be honest, uh more of an anomaly. Okay. Yes. Okay. Well maybe because also the Hispanic. I want to I want to be proved wrong.

SPEAKER_01

I want to be proved wrong. Um I Mike Kelly, yeah, I wanted him to be Kamla's VP. She obviously didn't go with him. Um but I don't know, ever since I've just thought, you know, he has a great resume, obviously being an astronaut and all of that. But like, I don't know, there's just something about him.

SPEAKER_02

Who's anti-lay, he's not very pro-working.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, there's just something about him that I'm not a fan of. Um and then at the 10th, I have someone who I am a fan of, who's Roy Khanner. Um I think he's he's already basically running in the sense that he's positioning himself to take that left lane. I think he's really banking on AOC not running so he can inherit the burning lane there. Um he's doing a lot of stuff on the Epstein files. He's done stuff like, you know, the Jubilee surrounded type of interviews, stuff like that. He's working he was working with Thomas Massey and stuff. Um look, I really like him. Um he's someone who I'd be open to supporting uh in the actual primary and obviously in general. But uh I just don't think his chances are high. I really want to be proved wrong. I think he's a nice guy, I think he's a very smart guy. He also represents the Silicon Valley area, um, which is interesting how he's gonna manage to balance being representative of them whilst also being extremely progressive and helping working class people. So that's my power rankings, which I think I tried to keep it somewhat concise. There were ten people we cover. Um yours are here, but I think I'm gonna go the the opposite way.

SPEAKER_02

I'm gonna go from five to one. So I at number five, I put Wesmore. Now, Wesmore, I don't really like him that much to be honest. I just don't really f get appealed by him, like I don't feel motivated, even though like I'm again, I'm not I'm I'm Australian, but you know I kept acting as if I was supposed to vote for these people and I'm not like I live. I think what Wesmoore represents is a new generation that isn't that is still um acceptable by corporate establishment um who can win. Like I think Wesmore probably would be very decent in an election. The only thing I think that probably hinders him maybe is very I I think he probably has a bit of a lack of an experience type of thing.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, and he also doesn't have a big national platform necessarily, so it's not like he's used to scrutiny, we don't know.

SPEAKER_02

So number four, I put Pete Butaj. I think um even something like Carmela's admission that she wanted Pete Butaj as the VP, and the way Republicans and obviously Republicans are more focused on being anti-Kamala than anti-Pete, and but the way they were acting, like, well, you know, I think she should have just picked who him. She should have just gone with what she thought, you know, type of thing. Um I think I think she should have gone with him. Well, I I agree. I think I think there was no I don't think that's the thing.

SPEAKER_01

I don't think she should have she shouldn't have gone with Shapiro. I think Shapiro as well. Sorry, just to add to that Shapiro can't handle any criticism whatsoever. Um he then threw a tantrum and accused the Kamala campaign of trying to interrogate him, and apparently they asked him if he was ever an agent or the agent of Israel or something like that. When I'm pretty sure like he has been extremely obviously pro-Israel, um but he's also been on trips. I think he's had involvement in different groups and stuff like that. Um which I so I don't know, I don't I don't think that that's a crazy question to ask if someone, if if the writing's on the wall there. Well, yeah, and as well, but yeah, sorry, no, I was just going through the VP thing. I don't think she should have chosen Wells, shouldn't have chosen um shouldn't have chosen Shapiro. I think Kelly was obviously an option, but yeah, I think she should have gone with her have the conviction to do that.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, and I think as well, Pete Butterje, again, like Westmore, I think there's a whole range of people who can get behind that. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Um what would you say to people who say though that his time in the Biden admin as the transport secretary harms him? Because there was an issue with the trains in Ohio, and there was something else as well. There's there's blemishes on his track record now because he's also living in Michigan now. He was a mayor in another state that to Michigan.

SPEAKER_02

I think uh I don't think ties to Biden are that extreme or that or that much of an issue.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I'm not yeah, but just the fact that then he also had a few issues in his portfolio.

SPEAKER_02

Well I just don't think I and sure I agree if he was the candidate they'd probably dig stuff like that. Yeah, they did stuff like that up, but I just don't think it'd be I think you know if if you're in twenty-eight, inflation's through the roof, the country's a mess, and you see an ad, oh the trains didn't run on time like Pete Butter Chang. I don't think No, but I think the trains literally derailed.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, well, yeah, yeah, I know it happens all the time, it's not his fault. I understand. I'm just saying, you know, that is baggage there.

SPEAKER_02

Number three, I put AOC. Now I'm So we ever in the same spot. I I think it's more of a I think the Democratic Party, I think people underestimate I know I'm saying I think I think a lot, how much that party and its base has moved to the left and expecting a much more left-wing candidate, right? And as they as they should, right? I think for a long time the Democrats in the Western world were always seen as a lot more of a centrist party, very bare minimum, very just not the Republicans type of thing. And I think the base moving to the left and expecting much more teeth from the Democratic Party, um, in terms of economic and social policy, I think AOC represents that. Um my only thing is is obviously I think if she was the candidate like it would it would make it be a referendum on AOC.

SPEAKER_01

But I think that whenever any hinks a referendum on someone, I always think that usually helps that person who has a referendum on sure because it because publicity is good at all. Publicity is good publicity. It's all about the name recognition for most uh especially in the United States, it's about the name recognition, really. Because as well, you need to motivate voters to get out. If you're just some boring, centrist, corporate, bullshit democrat, who the fuck are you motivated to come out apart from some 53-year-old woman who just watches CNN all day?

SPEAKER_02

It's interesting, it's interesting, right? Because I remember in 2024 after Trump won, I remember thinking in my head, you know, he's won, but you know, I think he's in the bottom 50% of candidates who could have won. Who could have won a Republican election? Like I've I think someone like Easy Hayden.

SPEAKER_01

It was an easy election to win, I think, unfortunately.

SPEAKER_02

Yes, and and I'll get to that with other people in a second. But what do you call it? Um But I've now since changed my view on that because I think there's a whole lot of people who will always vote for Trump and never vote for anyone else. They'll never vote on a Republican.

SPEAKER_01

For the Republican side, it's gonna completely collapse when Trump's not running the chance. Oh, for sure. And as I said a few episodes ago, like put your house on it. It's gonna it's the Democrat is gonna win. And I think that when we have the main meat of this primary, I think that that will become increasingly evident that the Dem is the favourite to win. Meaning that this in its own, this primary, the reason we're speaking about it is because it basically is the presidential election. Who they put up will do very well. Anyway, who's your second?

SPEAKER_02

My second one's Gavin Newsom, the governor of California. I think stuff like the how Trump has now got the DOJ after him, I think that's helped him quite a lot.

SPEAKER_01

Because he started to fall off and now it's fucking helpful.

SPEAKER_02

I think that's just been a godsend for him. Um I think the fact that he's no longer gonna be the governor will also help him. He'll have a lot more time to just do a bit more shit stirring, you know.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Um and I also think who are the people who vote in Democrat democratic primaries, it's not younger people. Like statistically, it's not younger people. It's elder more I don't want to say elderly, but it's older, middle-aged uh voters. And those are the types of well, that's the type of people Gavin's yeah Gavin Newsom's very good with communication. That's yeah, and his business model appealing to them. And I think number one, I have Kamala Harris. Now, I think something that's always stuffed America up is I think they don't really reuse their candidates. I think another thing that helped Donald Trump last time was the fact that he was president before and then a candidate thing.

SPEAKER_01

Because yeah, that's what I was just saying. I think that people might be looking back on 24 and think fondly of that in the sense that maybe we made the wrong choice, maybe we should correct that now. People might even think that, hey, things were better, you know, when Biden was in office in 2021, 2023. Exactly right. Because I think it might get a lot worse um before it gets better in the next year. That's exactly right. And we might who would have thought, you know, in 24 that we would be looking back at like 2023 and using that as a benchmark of when times are good. And I think it would happen, you get what I'm saying?

SPEAKER_02

Like maybe but yeah, but even then it's like everything thought like 2017, 2018, like it's still there's still probably been issues, but then we it always basically the trend globally is like getting worse.

SPEAKER_01

So even like a few years back, people will look back more fondly than they do at the present day.

SPEAKER_02

And I think as well, look at the stalwarts of Australian politics. Like people like in especially in the Liberal Party, look at Menzies, look at Howard. They went to elections and lost. Exactly, 100%. And then they came back and then they won. They had landslides, yeah. Right? And they had really good, well, I'm not- I don't think they had really good, but like they had really good, longs.

SPEAKER_01

Successful careers, whether we like it or not.

SPEAKER_02

Even someone like Whitlam went to was the candidate before and lost.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, Whitlam's the more interesting one. I think they obviously should have run Whitlam in 75 after he got dismissed. If you're gonna run anyone, you're just a fucking idiot, right? But I don't know why they stuck with him after that. Because it was such a bad loss. I mean, seriously, I at that point we like, you know, I like Whitlam, but like I think some people dick ride him a bit too much.

SPEAKER_02

I think he should go to that. He should have gone to 1980. No way, no way.

SPEAKER_01

But I I liked Hayden though. I don't they maybe shouldn't have gotten rid of Hayden.

SPEAKER_02

I think um with Kamala, though, I think the only kind of flaws I see is I think she just needs to let go. Like just ease up a bit more. She needs to ease up, she needs to just let it rip, stay stuff like I told you so. I heard her say I'm not that's not a term I use. I don't know about the I told you. I think she should just say it. I think it just I think it should be. I might look a bit pretentious. I think that's why Trump True.

SPEAKER_01

Like she's held to a different standard than Trump. Comparing her to Trump is like comparing.

SPEAKER_02

Sure, but I think the Democrats right now are going through a period where they're saying, well, let's not do this Michelle Obama shit where we're just, you know, holding ourselves to some golden standard. Yeah, sometimes you need to live and let live. Well, I know. Look at Maine with that guy, what's his name, Grant Platner? Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Oh fuck it. Well what did he even do? Because we always have CNN on in this house. And, you know, for a week or two, I was walking around here, and every time I came out, they're talking about that guy and how he's disgraced himself. What? Apparently he has a Nazi thing.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, he had a whole lot of stuff. So in Maine, which is on the eastern section of the United States, um there is a longtime Republican Senator there, met uh Susan Collins, and she is very old. She's only old as she are. She's like in a I think she's in her late 70s, early 80s. She promised to only do two terms. She's been there since the like late 80s.

SPEAKER_01

I love how in Congress they're all being wheeled around in wheelchairs. That's a dream like that. She likes shakes her head. She's shaking her head. Yeah, okay.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, and what the Democrats decide to do was because it's this whole new uh thing of renewal. Did she run for re-election in this primary? Because I know he won the primary six years.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, she ran in, so she didn't just drop out. Yeah, okay, got you.

SPEAKER_02

Um he already won it.

SPEAKER_01

He won it last week, I think it was. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

So Grand Plat Platner, he is an oyster farmer, although there's there's rumours that's even dodgy and he was there for two weeks or something after and then that was it. But you know, he was also he was uh army reserve, I believe.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Um, and a lot of people have said this is a guy who's really gonna energize, you know, the the working class blue collar kind of.

SPEAKER_01

He's very much so a very left-wing candidate, but he presented himself kind of almost as someone who you would not think is some big left-wing culture warrior. He's actually, you know, he challenges that assumption. I think that's that's what works sometimes. That's why Zoran, because it's like, look, if Zoran, like I'm unfortunately it annoys me to say it because I think we should always vote based on policy. But if Zoran was was a was a pink-haired lesbian, uh you just he wouldn't have won, right? Because you have all the negative connotations about that group, as much as I think that's a shame, you know, you should just vote based on policy and substance. I think you sometimes a lot of these uh you know straight men can be successful in these kind of situations because they don't look like the typical democratic socialist. Do you get what I'm saying? It's really interesting.

SPEAKER_02

That's exactly right. And I think we've had many discussions on here before about how the Australian Greens hold themselves back because I think what they do is is they just cater to too many people in a way.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

But anyway, but back to Platner, right? So then Platner was the nominee, and he was really ahead. Like he's actually doing really well in this state. Like he was up by 10 points. Shit hit the fan. He revealed himself. So I don't know what brain fart you know this was.

SPEAKER_01

I'm also just thinking we need to catch ourselves here because YouTube does these checks on our videos. Oh yeah, I I think I just be yeah, he had a spot's what's the card. Do we cut the card? On my chest. On his chest. Go around. Yeah, allude to these words without saying them if you're getting what I'm saying.

SPEAKER_02

He had questionable tattoos on his chest. And what else? And which he revealed himself. So I don't like no one anyway. And then he he revealed it covered, he's got it covered up. And he said he didn't know it was.

SPEAKER_01

Was it just a tattoo? Yes. I thought there were other things.

SPEAKER_02

I thought No, no, no, there was more. There's more.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, like not nothing DV stuff. Yes. Okay, yes.

SPEAKER_02

There was there's allegations that he'd ched on his wife and his DV, and he which he is strange.

SPEAKER_01

Chatting on your wife and then Bill Clinton, like, you know, we've been there, done that.

SPEAKER_02

And and the wife's actually come out and said, I wish this wasn't made public. Like, I wish this wasn't like um brought to the public. How did that leak? Who knows? Did the 70-year-old woman leak?

SPEAKER_01

I don't think this this arc platinum campaign is very organized, to be quite frank. No. I saw their win thing and it didn't look it didn't look particularly crazy to me. It didn't look like when Zoran won or anything. It's a bit more of a Well, they've got 74%. I know I saw, but it's it was a bit more shabby the kind of look of this campaign. Anyway, it's extremely interesting and we'll definitely continue to monitor the Democratic primary. Who knows? We might have we might have wild cards coming, we might have billionaires, uh, millionaires, people like Cuban, we might have someone like James Talarico winning. We might have Hunter Biden. Texas, yeah, exactly. I fucking love Hunter Biden. Hunter Biden's fantastic. I've been saying this since the Channel 5 interview. You know, and it took people a while. Yeah, he did a Channel 5 interview. It's some some American thing. And I was saying back then, like, this man's fucking amazing. Because what people want, especially in the US, is they want someone who just isn't necessarily polished, isn't some establishment creature, they just want someone real. Um, and I think a lot of people don't even necessarily identify as left or right, they just want someone to tell them the truth, be up front. And uh just sound like them. I think if you if you're out there like a robot, I don't think you don't do yourself any justice. So anyway, a lot of wild cards. Um, yeah, I was just saying James Federico could win in Texas and run. But I mean he said he never wants to be president. We'll see what happens in Texas. Um anyway. Did you see that? Um they're trying to make him look like he's a woman or something. Anyway, it's it's crazy. That kind of thing. That's right, Crockett should have been the candidate. No, no way. We we already actually covered this a few episodes ago. Anyway, thank you all for watching. I hope you enjoyed our new set um with our Albanese thing over there, which is signed. That's young Albanese for anyone wondering. You're right?

SPEAKER_02

He's a bit in a wasty though, I'm a bit more. Yeah, you're right. A bit of a wasty.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, okay. Anyway, thank you for watching. Um, we're all mourning the mixed smart meal. Yeah. Um, and yes, we will be back in two weeks to discuss. You know what? I think that in the next episode we'll be discussing Taylor Swift's wedding. I reckon. Well, that's coming up in a few weeks. Yeah. Hmm. Anyway. No, I was saying move your mic up. This guy always holds his mic completely far away from him, so you guys can't hear it.

SPEAKER_02

I have a really bad I think he's already done that.

SPEAKER_01

I have hyperflexia people. This it this gave him fucking an extra five hours to do the HST. Right?

SPEAKER_02

When I just rest my hand, I look like this. It's not a good look. Yeah, it's not.

SPEAKER_01

I've also seen him be photographed like this. Yeah as if he has like an actual condition.

SPEAKER_02

It's just because I'm resting my hand. Anyway, well you need to get it. I'm just saying, when I hold the microphone, it like t my hand tilts. It's resting.

SPEAKER_01

There we go. All right. Well we'll be back in two weeks provided he hasn't died of hyperflexia. Um thank you for watching. We appreciate it.
